J'ai d'abord été bluffé par la qualité de frabrication de cette guitare.Ĭ'est ma première Schecter et j'avais entendu dire que le rapport qualité/prix de cette marque était excellent. Thanks, Thomann for the delivery, even during these crazy times.Įdit : This guitar is still fabulous, though I will change the nut because the original plastic one is not great. If you're looking for a telecaster shape guitar, the Schecter PT is just like a Tele, but it looks better, sounds better, is more versatile and has more guts. Overall, a huge amount of guitar for the money! The playability with this maple neck is top-notch, and the incredible pick-ups + features make for a super versatile guitar. The 3-way switch works great, though in the middle position (Bridge&Neck) the switch is a bit wobbly, that's me being picky. Sound/features: The guitar sounds AMAZING! Shecter has chosen incredible versatile pick-ups for this guitar! And the really well made push-up nob to choose between single-coil and humbucker pickups is a really convenient feature.

If I would want to be picky, I'd say that I can spot some minor defects on the border between the binding and the wood. And I love the guitar too much to send it back for this defect. Fortunately, this is just a cosmetic issue, as the frets are all smooth.

Another con, which I don't like that much is that nearly all the fret starting from the 9th are a bit corroded. My neck has a defect on the 12th fret side marker, it (I guess) wasn't sanded properly and grips a bit just on one spot but it doesn't affect the playability at all. The neck is simply incredible, the maple is beautiful, with a glossy lacker finish on top of the fretboard, and a satin/very smooth finish on the back. The glossy black finish looks amazing along with the cream-coloured bindings! Looking closely you can distinguished the main lines of the woods under the paint. Luthiery: The guitar looks fabulous, much better than in the photos.
Van nuys schecter tele update#
My brother actually drove the very first PT tele to the Forum and handed it to PT before a concert.Disclaimer: I received this guitar on, so I will update this review in a year or so. I'm not sure there are a lot of Van Nuys PT Teles. He made every single Van Nuys Neck except for a handful. Here's part of the 1979 Catalogue, I'm top center, Dave Schecter directly below me.Īs a final comment, the most authoritative person there is WRT Van Nuys Schecters is Tom Anderson of Anderson Guitar Works. 5" copper copper tape around them grounded to the beginning of the wind/eyelet with a tinned wire. Dream Machines usually had tapped pickups, a tapped strat was about 7000 turns of #43 polysol w enamel coating, for the first tap, and 5000 more #44. There are a lot of guitars with one Schecter part that are called Dream Machines, they are not.
Van nuys schecter tele serial number#
Schecter only made about 1300 Dream Machines around May 1979 until the day the Dallas people came at night with trucks, broke in and took everything, early 1984 I think.ĭream Machines have an S stamped in front of the serial number (I think just the neck pocket of the body, not sure if necks got the S. Schecter Necks and bodies always had part numbers stamped on the back of the neck plate and the neck pocked and a serial number. The first few years they were burned in with an Iron, but that piece of shit broke to much and we switched to an ink stamped logo. Schecter always branded their bodies and necks with the Schecter Logo. I actually built out that first custom shop with Dave. Schecter made replacement parts (strat, tele, pbass & jbass, Gibson LP) for several years before they actually started assembling guitars in a 'custom shop'. There are two major aspect of Van Nuys Schecter, Dream Machines and plain old parts. Go on and look for the Van Nuys Schecter forum, or join a Schecter facebook group. In many cases they remember stuff Dave has forgotten. I still talk to Dave Schecter regularly, but strangely enough there are guys who seriously collect the Van Nuys stuff and know way more than I do. You seem to be referring to Van Nuys Schecters.
